Information about the Area

Our Properties are centrally located, the old town of Gois is very pretty with a large river and river bar, many bars and restaurants and lots of old buildings. Vila nova do Ceira, down river has a bar, park and river beach open in the summer. Gois is two hours drive from Torre, Portugal's highest mountain and the only place to ski in Portugal. At present the resort has six ski lifts and there are plans to build a cable car from a nearby town. About one hour in the other direction is the nearest beach, Figeira da Foz, this town is much loved by the Portuguese and has a large marina with a Tapas bar, there is also an indoor market open every weekday with fresh produce and locally made souvenirs. Coimbra is Portugal's 3rd city and boasts a brand new football stadium (built last year for Euro 2004, and opened by the Rolling Stones for their 40 licks tour) as well as a large number of restaurants, shopping centres, hospital and university (renowned for it's beautiful library). The nearest airports are Porto (roughly 2 hours from Gois) and Lisbon (roughly 3 hours from Gois), both have trains that run to Coimbra and even on to Lousa 10 miles west of Gois. Vila Nova do Ceira (Monteira) is 3 miles north-east of Gois.
